To follow up my last post about the bridesmaids, this article is all about the groomsmen! Now according to stereotypes, the bride is much more involved in the wedding planning process than the groom is. But I wanted to find some more exciting aspects than approving napkins and centerpieces that the guys can get involved in to feel apart of the preparations.

Time Together:

As the groom, your groomsmen are your inner circle, your best friends and your closest family members. It is so important to have a strong support system around you for the big day. Make sure to live in the moment and capture memories with them throughout the day. This day is important to not only you and your wife-to-be, but your brothers as well.

Make your photo time together special and enjoy every second with your best friends. When booking a photographer, make sure they have reserved time for you and your groomsmen in the timeline (along with the bride and her bridesmaids). It is important to take a breath in the middle of such a busy day to be with your friends. Take fun pictures that show your personality and reflect your friendship and longtime bond. Wearing funny pattern socks hidden by your suits, playing a game of tackle football, or doing something unique to your group during the session is a way to keep it fun comfortable and personal. These are the photos you’ll look back on for years to come, so dedicate some time to brainstorm how to make them count.

What to Wear:

As for attire, most groomsmen are all matching, with the groom himself wearing his own unique tux. It is very important to keep a consistent color scheme with ties, bow ties, or other accent pieces. Keep the suits neutral; a simple black, grey, or navy looks clean and neat. Taking care of getting everyone what they need clothes-wise is something that the best man can take care of. It’s easiest to order all of the suits at once, and have the groomsmen send in their sizes and measurements. That way there is no need to worry about someone forgetting to pick up their tux before it is too late. Avoiding stress where you can on an unpredictable day matters.

How to Be the Best Groomsmen Ever:

Up until now, all this info has been for the guy getting married! But this is for the groomsmen! If this is your first time being apart of a wedding party, or if you’re just looking for some extra tips, I’m here to help. First and foremost, you are the groom’s support, team, circle, family, and you need to be there for him and the bride in every and any way possible. He chose you to be a special part in this day for a reason.

Leading up to the wedding, make sure you are active in the planning process where you are asked. When putting together the bachelor party, make sure to give input on plans and be a helping hand to the best man so he’s not doing all of the work himself. Make sure you are there for the groom as much as possible. You need to attend any rehearsal dinners, bachelor parties, and other events that you can. You do not want to be the one guy that doesn’t show up until the wedding day. Everyone is busy, just do your best. As for the big day, you are there first to be of service. Remain humble and offer help with set up or guiding guests to their seats. That is how you go above and beyond as a  groomsmen, and it will be beyond appreciated by the bride and groom.
